Mexico or Bust!

We're headed back to Cabo San Lucas for a wedding. It's our third time in Mexico in three years - 7th time all together including site visits. This time, we're working on an 80 person wedding. A gorgeous chapel ceremony followed by dinner on the beach with fireworks and fire dancers...then all night dancing & debauchery in the Bahia room. I'm always asked about how much fun we have when we travel for a destination wedding...and anybody whose ever done a destination wedding where all the vendors are coming from the US can tell you... it's intensely stressful. The good news is our truck has made it over the border (12 hours after arriving at the border) and the flowers are on thier way to Tiajuana. The rough part is that the border agents often don't know the rules and make them up as they go along... so even the best laid plans can become rough. I'm so we're excited to have another opportunity to challenge ourselves. That's my biggest life goal...always be challenged (it helps with my ADD). I'll be sure to post some images once I have them!

Upcoming TV Shows

GREEN IS THE NEW BLACK... On Monday, we taped a piece for Fox News Channel on Green Weddings...it may or may not air on Earth Day (this Sunday) because of the tragedy in Virginia and I hope they don't choose to air a fluff piece just because of the day, so I wouldn't mind if it were delayed. But if you're not learning more about how to help the environment through your weddings, you should. The amount of waste at weddings & events is huge! My first wedding 12 years ago had elements of "being green" including an all organic menu... I also think it's the wave of our future and while we've had probably a wedding or two per year that we always called "Organic" we are happy now to have no problem talking to our clients about the benefits of caterers that use sustainable farms, organic produce & meat as well as full recycling programs. GET MARRIED ON WOMEN'S ENTERTAINMENT... Some months ago, we taped a piece for a new show called Get Married (Airing on WE, Sunday mornings at 9:30 a.m.) We taped enough for three shows, including a sitdown interview & 2 pods (a short 1 - 2 minute piece with an idea or trend). Our first one is coming up! Epsiode 3: 4/29/2007, 9:30am on WE tv Mark Badgley and James Mischka show their elegant "old Hollywood glamour" wedding gowns, and David Tutera and Preston Bailey fill you in on some of the latest trends in bridal bouquets. Celebrity even designer Sasha Souza shows how to use color in your wedding, and learn how charity can be a part of your wedding. Edwin McCain performs his hit wedding song, "I'll Be" and dishes on his own wedding day, and our makeover bride Kelly starts getting in shape with her first day at the gym. Also, see how incredible Royal resorts in Mexico is for a destination wedding or honeymoon and even book it for your own getaway Very exiting stuff! Thanks for reading!! S

Thank You!!!

Thanksgiving is just around the corner & then we will be in full Holiday mode. Whatever holiday you celebrate, we wish you love, best wishes & health during the season. In the spirit of the holidays, we're focusing the next blog on cool decorating ideas for your holiday table... but first... news from "The Office" Here are some updates on things going on for us! ---------------------------------------------- WESTIE AWARDS: We were honored with 3 ISES WESTIE Awards in early November at the ISES Western Region Education Conference hosted by the ISES Denver Chapter. Thank you so much ISES! It was so great to spend such an intimate night with those in the industry, often our conferences are so large it's hard to get to spend time with everybody but for this the small intimate nature was perfect. All in all, there were five awards given to those in the ISES Napa/Sonoma Chapter...for a brand new chapter, that's out of this world! ---------------------------------------------- SPECIAL EVENTS MAGAZINE GALA AWARD NOMINATIONS: For the second year in a row we've received multiple nominations. Last year we were honored with the BEST DINING TABLETOP award and this year, we're nominated in two categories, BEST WEDDING & BEST EVENT FOR A PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL. Wish us luck!! Here's a preview of the nominated events: ---------------------------------------------- BEST WEDDING BUDGET $500/GUEST: The Wedding of Dawn & James last January included a reception held in San Francisco with cocktails & a commitment ceremony under a clear top tent in the courtyard of a beautiful Pacific Heights Mansion. The guest list included over thirty children who enjoyed their own special buffet as well as a bounty of desserts & entertainment. ---------------------------------------------- BEST EVENT PRIVATE INDIVIDUAL BUDGET OVER $500/GUEST: A reception held in a barrel room of a Sonoma winery for 85 guests included a chefs tasting menu of 6 courses, the finest wine as well as a private performance by Tony Bennett at the end of the evening. ---------------------------------------------- We also just did a fantastic photo shoot for a new magazine which will be out in January!!! Here's to hoping you have a fantastic Thanksgiving...check back with us in early December for new news, hot ideas & winter comfort decor ideas. Til Next Time....
